I have been involved with Dogs, Shooting, and Hunting from an early age. However, it was after reading a book written by Peter Moxon on Gundog Training that I decided to train my own Gundogs to please me instead of themselves. That was many years ago. I am member of the UK Kennel Club and have served on the Field Trial Liaison Council and the Field Trial Sub Committee for 27 years. I am an ‘A’ panel Judge for Retrievers and Spaniels, and have judged the Springer and the Cocker Championships three times, also the Retriever Championship. I have represented England in Internationals with 5 different dogs, and have made Field Trial Champions with Retrievers, Springer Spaniels and a Cocker Spaniel. I was employed in the HM Prison Service and became a dog handler in 1967. In 1980, I was promoted and put in charge of the Security Dog Section at Dartmoor Prison. My roll included Training Instructor and Drug Searching Officer. During my time at Dartmoor Prison I won the Prison Service National Working Trials Championship 3 times with a German Shephard Dog. I always feel very honoured to be asked to assist with training, or judging. I have trained and judged in many Countries, including Europe, Scandinavia and South Africa. My Judging appointments include the European International in Belgium, The Netherlands, Austria and France. Rupert Hill (Bellever Gundogs)
